Trish studied medicine at the University of Queensland before relocating to Geelong as an intern. She completed her medical oncology training at University Hospital Geelong, North West Regional Hospital in Tasmania and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and has also completed a Clinical Diploma in Palliative Medicine.

She is actively involved in clinical research, having presented at conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. She is involved in clinical trials in prostate cancer and melanoma.

Dr Banks is a consultant medical oncologist at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, in the tumour streams of genitourinary cancer and melanoma, as well as at University Hospital Geelong. She is also part of the genetics team at the Familial Cancer Clinic at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Trish lives in Geelong with her young family, Tibetan terrier, Ragdoll cross and five heritage-breed chickens. She enjoys bushwalking, camping and travelling.
